GOVERNOR ROMER ENDORSES CHRIS HANSEN FOR MAYOR
DENVER, CO -- On Monday, Governor Roy Romer endorsed Chris Hansen in his bid to become Denver’s next mayor. He joins Teamsters 17, Teamsters 455, Colorado Cleantech Industries Association, 314 Action Fund, Former U.S. Congressman David Skaggs, Mayor Jeni Arndt, State Senator Kevin Priola, State Representative Judy Amabile, Former State Senator Lois Court, Former State Senator Joyce Foster, Former State Representative Joe Miklosi, Former President of Denver Public Schools Board of Education Mary Seawell and more than 1300 contributors.
“As the former governor of Colorado, I know what it takes to make progress and lead with a vision. Denver faces its own set of challenges, from modernizing the protocols for plowing roads after big storms to solving the homelessness crisis. This race is incredibly important, which is why I’m proud to announce my endorsement of Chris Hansen for Denver Mayor.” - Governor Roy Romer.
A true public servant, Governor Romer did not retire after serving as Governor of Colorado and chair of the Democratic Governors’ Association. Instead, he spent six years serving as the superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District, the second-largest school district in the country.
“I’m honored to have the Governor’s support and to welcome him to this great coalition we are building of organized labor, business groups, environmental groups, public safety unions, and community leaders.” Chris continues, “It will take all of us working together to solve these complex problems and I’m proud of the campaign we’re building to do just that.”
